You can teach your dog to lunge pretty much the same way you teach a horse. Put him on a long-line. Place him out on the ciclre. You go back stand in the middle. Stand behind his shoulder, raise up your arm (you can use a lunge whip as an extension to your arm if you like don't hit him with it though!), tell him trot cluck encourage him to trot. Stay behind his shoulder with your arm out to keep him moving forward. When he does what you ask, good boy . If he starts coming back into you, push him back out onto the ciclre with body language an out command. Change direction by turning yourself around sending him the opposite way out on the ciclre. It takes some training, but it can be done.
